2021.12.08 06:40 noonhe I might have ADHD and I'm struggling so much with coding and learning new stuff
Hi. this post is just ranting about some issues I have as a programmer who might have ADHD. I'm 26 years old .I studied Computer Engineering in uni. I've been a Front-End Developer for 3 years. currently I'm struggling with my job and learning new material. It's embarrassing to say but after 3 years I still have a beginner level knowledge of JS, I wanted to learn and study more since the day I started my first job. I've been saving and bookmarking articles and I've downloaded so much resources. I use Pocket for saving articles that I want to read later and I think there's thousands of saved articles in my account. I saved more than a thousand of video tutorials in my Watch Later playlist in YouTube. thinking about all of these unused resources scares me. I'm like a hoarder of learning material. It's very difficult to focus and have interest in my job, I had this lack of motivation since I was a student in uni. in uni, I got really bad grades I only studied to pass exams and after graduation I completely forgot everything that I learned, as if I never studied computer engineering in university. I regret it very much. now I'm making the same mistakes with my job. in my country salaries for coding jobs aren't as good as in Europe or USA. and I use Angular at work so Angular jobs has less salary compared to React or even Vue. I'm very dissatisfied with my salary I hate working for some rich CEO to make him richer in exchange of an insignificant amount of money that if I save it all I still won't be able to do anything with it after 10 years. some developers in my country take jobs with European countries to earn salary in Dollars which is very good because our currency is worthless and dollar is very expensive. I want to do that too. but I need to be a very good developer to get a job in other countries. I've been working from home for more than a year because of the pandemic. it was a very good opportunity to learn and improve because I had more free time and some days I didn't have any tasks but I wasted all of it doing nothing or panicking over making decision about where to start and what to read first or which course to watch. I'm 26 years old and I already know that I wasted a lot of time. there are teenager developers who know more than me and create awesome projects and make tons of money. I don't know what happened to me, I have problems with focus, I easily forget things that I've read or recently learned, I'm always tired, my thoughts are so messy, in meetings I can't concentrate to listen to what my supervisor is saying and my mind jumps from one thought to another very quickly, I can't stick to my goals and decisions. and unfortunately I'm interested in many things. I enrolled in several online courses about UI/UX design because I know as a front-end developer I should know about design but I only watch the first lessons and I give up. I can't even imagine that I can one day be that creative to design stuff. basically I have this feeling about everything that I'm interested in. there's a feeling of certainty that says I can't do this or that or make this or that or understand this or that. I hate myself so much these days. I was a smart kid. I studied in a very good school I got into a very good university in my country but after that suddenly everything just changed. I feel more and more stupid everyday. I don't know if I had ADHD. I read symptoms and other people's storied about having ADHD and makes me think maybe I have it too. I don't know if there's a good specialist in my city. sorry if this text is very messy. thanks for reading it. I appreciate any advice or similar experience.

2021.12.08 06:40 ReversedTimeMachine Sério pessoal, amo vos do fundo do coracao

2021.12.08 06:40 mrbones2810 The Elemental: Chapter 2 - A Healing Hand
Reverie Synecdoche was hunched over a desk in the back room of her clinic, scribbling away at a form, when the back door crashed open. Adamant Wayward, covered in blood, stood in the doorway. Reverie opened her mouth to express disapproval at his entrance, but stopped as she noticed the unconscious girl in his arms.
“Quick, on the desk.” Reverie swept away the pile of sheets and stationery, and moved aside to let Adamant lay her carefully down. Reverie’s hands began to glow as she moved them slowly over the still girl.
“What happened to her? Is all of this blood hers?”
Adamant shook his head. “Club to the head. I don’t know how bad it is. Her eyes were unfocused but she was still speaking, and she started vomiting on the way here. This blood on me isn’t hers.”
Reverie held her hands over the girl’s head, closing her eyes in concentration. “Her skull is fractured. The bone is cutting into her brain.”
Adamant gripped the edges of the desk. “Can you save her?”
Reverie’s mouth tightened into a thin line. “Yes,” she said after a moment. “But it will take time. Brain injuries are complicated. Now be silent. I need to concentrate.”
Adamant broke his gaze off the girl, who had started bleeding from her nose. He paced restlessly around the room, eventually settling into a chair by the door. The girl’s breathing began to deepen and even out as Reverie’s magic flowed through her, and despite himself, Adamant began to relax slightly. He leaned back in his chair, and didn’t realise he was slipping into sleep until he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder, waking him up.
Adamant instinctively shot to his feet, startling Reverie. She glared at him for a moment before speaking. “She’s going to be fine. I’ve healed the damage, now she needs rest.”
Reverie swayed on her feet, and Adamant reached out a hand to steady her. “You need rest too,” he said gently. “I’ll keep an eye on her.”
Reverie nodded and started to move out of the room. She looked back. “Put her in a bed in the medical bay. No one else is likely to show up at this hour, and the only other patient in there is in a coma.” She shuffled out, and Adamant turned to the girl.
Aside from the dried blood coating the side of her head, she looked better. Adamant picked her up and walked down the hallway to the medical bay, where he laid her down in one of the beds. He was wide awake now, so he looked for something to do.
He grabbed a hand towel that hung by the sink at one end of the room, running it under water and bringing it to her, doing his best to wipe away the blood.
A vital sign monitor stood connected to the girl’s bed. A modern contraption of magic and technology, each was designed to run off the bedridden sorcerer’s magic. Adamant flicked the switch. The screen remained black. He flicked it off and on a few more times, and even bashed the top with his hand several times, to no success. He swore under his breath.
“Piece of junk,” he grumbled. He looked over at the room’s other occupant.
A dangerously skinny man, looking like he had seen better days. His gaunt, pale face was curtained by long dark hair, and his beard was tangled and unkempt. Various tubes ran from bags of fluid into him, and a monitor beeped away softly at his bedside.
Adamant turned away and moved to the window. Dawn hadn’t broken yet, so the only thing the window showed was his reflection. Noticing the amount of blood covering him, Adamant went to the sink. He began to scrub at his arms and face under the water.
“Thank you,” a voice said from behind him. Adamant turned to see that the girl was awake, staring at him from her bed. “You saved me.”
Adamant inclined his head toward her in response.
“What’s your name, girl?”
“Don’t call me girl,” she retorted. “I’m twenty.” Adamant said nothing, just raised an eyebrow. This bout of conversation had apparently tired her, as her eyelids began to droop.
“Kella,” she said, laying back on the bed. “My name is Kella.”
The first light of day was emerging when Reverie walked into the medical bay. Kella was sleeping soundly, and Adamant was standing at the window, cleaned up and wearing a new set of clothes.
He turned as she walked in, and she smiled. “Will there ever come a day when Adamant Wayward shows up at my door without the threat of death hanging over him?”
Adamant smiled back at her, failing to stop the hint of sheepishness creeping into his expression. “This time I wasn’t the one in need of saving, which is a first.” He nodded to the comatose man in the corner of the room. “Who’s the stiff?”
Reverie furrowed her brow at his choice of words. “He’s a Sensitive. Apparently he was raving about the Supreme Mage’s forthcoming death before he fell into this coma. Someone had the idea to drop him off here.” She glanced over at Kella, and her expression changed to one of concern.
“What happened here, Adamant?”
Adamant considered his answer for a moment. “She was collateral damage. My bunkhouse was raided, and not at random. They must have found out about me. I mustn’t have been careful enough.”
“They weren’t after you.” Kella rolled over in her bed to look at Adamant. “They were after me.”
Adamant and Reverie exchanged a glance, and looked back to Kella, who was clutching her blankets tightly around herself.
“I’m being hunted.”
